Here is a fun little guitar pattern. I play the Am thing like four times, then the C four, then start over. The rhythm is "to scale", one horizontal thingy per sixteenth note, i.e. quarter-quarter-eighth-eighth-quarter.
Am:
 ----------------
 ----1---0h1-----
 ----2---0h2-2---
 ----2-------2---
 0---------------
 ----------------
C:
 ----------------
 ----1---0h1-----
 ----0---0---0---
 ----2---0h2-2---
 3---------------
 ----------------

Here is another one I like a lot; it's a truncated version of something Brad Yoder showed me:
 ----3--2----2--3----3--3----3--3-
 --3--3----3--3----3--3----3--3---
 -0-0--0--2-2--2--0-0--0--0-0--0--
 --------0------------------------
 ------------------------3--------
 3---------------0----------------

I'm continually impressed how the acoustic guitar makes boring ol' G-D-Em-C sound so nice.
