I bought "You Are Here" the other day, and read through it today. It wasn't much to read, but it had a lot of pretty pictures. I couldn't help thereafter but make something like this font in imitation of those old copperplate didone italics that look so very --- I don't know how else to put it --- cartographic:

I think it would need a number of fixes to really look authentic, but whatever. Here is a TTF of it.
