This Language Log post was interesting; of course to the linear logicians these issues are old hat. Perhaps in the utopian future of Linear English we will be able to say what we really mean: "The Grand Vitara is available in LX & EX trims, and in either 2WD & 4WD models" and " Calamari ⊗ shrimp ⊗ clams sautéed in your choice of alfredo & spicy marinara" and "Intel may prefer India ⊕ Malaysia to America for next major infrastructure investment".
