Went and saw my ex-312-student Carlos (bass) and Diana (drums) and Oliver (keyboard) play some jazz at an AEPi rush party tonight. I think, after nearly 7 years in pittsburgh, this was the first frat party I've ever been to. The music was pretty awesome. Unexpectedly hearing Monk's "Well You Needn't" in particular was very gratifying. They went crazy on "A-Train", too, and did a lovely job of "Peace" and "My Favorite Things" and "Autumn Leaves" and "Four" and "Indonesia" and "Blues for Alice". Oliver let me sit in for a song, so I picked "Tune Up", and I didn't even fuck it up too bad. Though I'm painfully aware I need more practice playing in groups. Good times, though.
