So I've used the chords Bm7b5-E7-Am-A7 as a boring short loop for improvisation now for years and years, but it occurred to me yesterday to actually try to build a more interesting tune around it. Here it is. I tossed in a few of the chords changes "autumn leaves" has just after the lyrics go "but I miss you most of all, my darling...". Lovely turning-around kind of feel to them.
Nevermind, I looked more carefully and realized I've essentially just rewritten the bridge of Autumn leaves in its entirety transposed up a whole step from where I'm used to playing it. With, like, one nontrivial chord substitution. Goddammit.
