I'd better watch out -- a lot of the comments in there about how people hoard stuff because of stronger tendencies to attach emotional and identity meaning to possessions really resonated with me. That's totally why I keep around old journals and papers and miscellaneous trinkets associated with places I've been and so on. Also the thing about wanting to leave things in plain view. Oh well, if you hear a story thirty years from now on CNN about a guy being trapped under a pile of old type-theory notes, you'll know in whose direction to groan.
