Worked on researchy stuff on paper for a while at Arby's. A random patron of said establishment looked over my shoulder and asked, "what kind of math is that?" Turned out she taught math at the high school level, so I had to mumble may way through an answer. Went to Carnegie library, thumbed through the jazz section and took out anything that looked particularly shiny. Got Coltrane's 1961 interpretation of "Favorite Things", some Brubeck, an Ellington & Armstrong collaboration with a beautiful version of "Don't get around much anymore", Monk's "Criss-Cross", and a Bud Powell disc with "Anthropology" on it. Am enjoying Paul Desmond's alto sax style on the Brubeck Quartet recordings... Made another batch of 2 cups rice + 1 chicken breast + salt and pepper. Mmm, love the minimal food. Ate about half of it, and a banana. Am extremely full now.

I would like to introduce you to my good friend, "stir frying". It's a component-based model of food preparation with an easy learning curve. :-)

so easy! and fun! go get some veggies (whole foods is good), maybe some chicken, and throw it all in a big pan with some good sauces. then stir! la!

I don't know of any good sauces that I'm not allergic to, though. Soy and peanuts cut out a lot of the traditional ones. Ketchup seems a bit criminal.

sesame oil? teriyaki sauce? whole foods has a variety of sauces!

and yes, even though you have quite the plethora of the K-stuff, if you tried to use it the stir-fry police would come to your house and arrest you.

Another really nice minimal recipe that is really similiar to yours is rice, cream of mushroom soup, chicken breast cut into chunks, and salt and pepper.
