So I was trying to read this page and became infuriated once again at (mozilla/X/the fontserver) for fucking up all the fonts, and decided to just apt-get upgrade in the desperate hope that it might fix things, since I had forgotten the magic incantation to make my home-directory installation of Firebird work. lincoln3 said, in the middle of the huge long package download, that it wouldn't help, but after it finished, my page displayed perfectly.

All I can say is: norm, on the couch.
