Took the physics II final today. Think it went okay.
Had some trouble getting Kinko's to print my poster, so I ftp'ed it to printing services instead. It looks like this, except bigger:

Damn. That is really cool.
You need to do both posters and an oral presentation this year?
Sheesh, you're such an artiste. Nice poster. Geoff, we had to give both a poster session and an oral presentation as well, don't you remember?
Yes, but the poster was for the end of the fall semester. We had oral presentations for the midterms, and an oral presentation for the end of the spring semester (coinciding with Meeting of the Minds). At least that is what I did and still passed. The impression I get is that this year they have to do both a poster and a oral presentation during Meeting of the Minds. Maybe they didn't do a poster session at the end of the fall semester.
No, we had to do a poster at midyear also. Except everyone's poster was mostly pasted-up TeX slides (mine included) and they (being Lenore Blum I think :) whined about them not being "exciting" enough. So they (being Peter Lee) enjoined us to make more eye-candyish posters this time around and said they'd be part of our final grade, but volunteered to reimburse for any printing costs.
Yeah, I think Martin said something to that effect as well. Though it still is not clear to me whether the spring posters only became part of the bargin after the complaint. Also, did they throw cash at you guys this year too?
Hmmm yeah, I guess we didn't have to do an end-of-year poster... I just remembered doing a poster at the end of some semester, but then I remembered that I was dating Aaron at the time, so it must've been fall.
Yeah, that's pretty sweet. And I learned something from the poster. What higher praise do you need then that?
Do you know about Larry Gonick? He has a few mathematical cartoons, including one on probabilistic proofs. | |
