What I like best about the pair of Radiohead tunes that just landed today and yesterday is it really shows off what I like best about Radiohead as a band: the language of harmonies and harmonic progressions they use is just completely one-of-a-kind. Sophisticated but deeply weird. Major is happy and minor is sad and dominant 7 is tense, but whatever chords are happening in Daydreaming, even though they are a bunch of those --- they're like pod people wearing the skins of real humans. It's magic and I love it. There's nothing like plain old happy and sad and tense here --- I get a superposition of joyful and horrified and ominous and dizzy and disoriented. Best shit since Pyramid Song.
