I usually drop by the carnegie library on the way back to campus from lunch whenever I have lunch by myself in oakland, to check my email and see if any new books or whatever catch my eye. Happened to run into madmadammim, she being on break from work at the adjacent museum, and she told me to check out "Touch the Sound", a documentary about the percussionist Evelyn Glennie, who happens to be profoundly deaf. Just finished watching it. The conversational little blurbs in which she (and collaborator Fred Frith) discuss what music and sound really mean to them and all that tend toward the artsy comma fartsy, but the performances are completely amazing, and the visuals are often nice.
