Flight home went ok. Best part was the Prague airport had an upright piano sitting out for anyone to play, and it was decently in tune and not totally mobbed by other people. The 8.5h TXL-JFK leg was a little annoying --- had a quite cramped middle seat with a huge dude on my left and a slightly-too-chatty retiree on the right (but only slightly) who white-knuckle gripped the seat in front of her when there was turbulence, which there was plenty of, aaand the person in front of me had their seat-back pushed back the entire flight. And Customs took like an hour and A and F trains were slightly fucky, blah, blah, finally made it home about three hours after landing, since I ended up having to walk from the next-nearest train station --- but that meant a convenient stopoff at Favorite Diner and had a tasty burger.

I *am* that retiree in turbulence situations. So I think that's a vote for continuing to work on getting over it.

Let me confess that I too am freaking out a bit in my head; the only reason I am annoyed is from the entirely hypocritical wish that other people wouldn't externalize their anxiety so I have to know about it too :)

Getting control over it is the main reason I'm seeing the therapist. Well, also it would be nice to actually not feel it.

Good luck! I kind of gradually became a more nervous flyer and then somewhat less in the last few years, don't know the reason for either. I think there was a moment when looking out the window during a steep bank made me feel really unsettled, but that's lessened now.
