Today on the subway I saw someone with a book of Polish crossword puzzles and, despite not speaking any Polish past the word "dobry", the clue "twórca esperanta" caught my eye. Esper- is a latinate root, right? So... that basically has to mean what I think it does, doesn't it? Is it eight (= strlen(ZAMENHOF)) letters long? Yup, it is. I was too ingrained into the "you just don't bother strangers on the subway" mindset to say anything, but I was very amused that I was able to deduce with high confidence that "twórca" was the Polish word for "creator" (and also that -a is at least sometimes a genitive ending) from very circumstantial clues.
