I made a super simple little game today for Ludum Dare for the heck of it, even though I started super late, on the principle that making a thing is better than not trying:

It turned out not very fun I think, not just because I didn't flesh out a lot of the occupations much (which I didn't) but because the interaction between the first and second halves of the game is too cryptic/unpredictable.
There's something I kind of like about the tension of forcing the player to just hold down the mouse button for a long time (kind of how Candy Box and A Dark Room pressure you into waiting for long periods of real, wall-clock time) but I didn't get much out of it in the end.
Anyway, as they say, not a failed experiment, but a successful experiment with a negative outcome.
