Finished reading Moneyball. Really enjoyed it. I can think of no more suitable compliment for the quality of writing in it than: it made baseball seem interesting to me. Also the stuff I was already more naturally inclined to find interesting, namely the triumph, over arbitrary gut sense and myth-making, of paying attention to the actual world in a systematic way (that which is sometimes called "statistics" and "science") was quite enjoyably described. For a piece of nonfiction, it had some stunningly good characters and narrative structure. (9/10)

I concur. I read Moneyball this summer and -- not only was I surprised how much I liked the book -- it made me enjoy watching baseball for the first time in my adult life.

The author's other books are also well-written.

Yeah, I also enjoyed Liar's Poker a while back.
