Saw "The King's Speech". It seemed like a fine piece of filmmaking in some ways; there was a fine story full of struggle and triumph and stirring climactic Beethoven-7-movement-2 sort of moments, during which was played Beethoven 7 movement 2. Somehow what shone through was the strangeness of the monarchy and associated pomp. Took the wind out of my-suspension-of-disbelief somehow, which is a weird thing to say since it was all a true story anyhow. I enjoyed my watching of it well enough, I guess, but I don't really understand the huge Oscar buzz. (6/10)
