Huh.
So today I noticed my air was a little low on my bike tires, and so I filled them both up with my pump at home. Later tonight, I locked my bike outside a restaurant, ate dinner, and came back to find my front tire flat. No obvious holes, except there is a little spray of whitish powder (dust?) behind the value. The cap and little widgety screw thing seem to be reasonably tightly in place. Dunno what went wrong. I will ask the bike shop in the morning I guess.
