Last night hanging out with Rob and Rachel was delightful. Good to have the company of reasonably like-minded dorks from time to time.

Read "Watchmen" while sitting in Barnes & Noble. Pretty excellent for the most part. The pacing felt weird, but the characterization was deliciously insane. It's an accomplishment to create characters strange enough that applying judgments of "plausible" or "implausible" to them seems rather futile.

Felt sort of guilty for reading it without buying it (not that it's the first time... I suddenly remember reading the entirety of Dave Barry's "Big Trouble" while sitting in a Madison Borders years ago) and bought Vernor Vinge's "Rainbow's End" "Rainbows End" since it was on the bargain shelf for $6 in hardcover. Cheap penitence, I suppose.
