I was skimming some of Marcelo Fiore's talks and they're blowing my mind. Even the very first talk suggests (though I certainly can't claim to understand much past about slide 10) that the creation and annihilation operators have something to do with the counit and unit of an adjunction, and that the triangle equalities for that adjunction somehow say the same thing as the commutator relation for creation and annihilation in quantum that pops out an h-bar.
