Reading extensionality's entry here I came across a mention of a dish called "russian toast". Still don't know what it is, but I happened across this mefi page trying to find out, which in turn mentioned the "dutch baby". The picture on its Wikipedia page made me pause and think, hm, that looks an awful lot like that crazy pancake thing my mom's made for me and my sisters since we were kids. Though some people make a small version of it in a little circular pan, I eventually found a picture (from here) that looks exactly like I remember it. Big ol' puffy rectangular blob of pure eggy bready breakfast goodness.

Apparently, according to a text file I had squirreled away in my andrew space, the recipe goes something like:
Preheat oven to 425.
Put a 9.5" x 13.5" glass or ceramic pan in the
oven while it's preheating, with 4 tbs butter.
1.5 cups flour
0.5 tsp salt
0.25 tsp baking powder (maybe a little more for extra height)
5 eggs
1.5 cups milk
1 tbs melted butter
1 tbs sugar
Pour into pan once the butter in the pan has melted.
Cook ~20 minutes.
Add maple syrup, fruit, etc. 
Serves 2-4.
